Mildred Elley’s Massage Therapy students are using “EveryBody Deserves a Massage Week” to promote healthy living while also assisting the local pet community and the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
“EveryBody Deserves a Massage Week” which runs from July 14 through July 20th is an event sponsored by Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP), the nation’s largest massage membership association of which Mildred Elley is a member. “EveryBody Deserves a Massage Week” is a nationwide educational public service designed to promote the many benefits of massage therapy.
Clients who make an appointment for a massage at Mirror Images Spa and Salon, the Student Clinic of Mildred Elley, during the week of July 14th, and bring a can of dog or cat food to their appointment, will receive $5 off their massage. All of the food will be donated to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
“Our students wanted to find a way to give back to the community while also promoting healthy living through the benefits of massage,” said Belinda Green, Program Coordinator for Mildred Elley’s Massage Therapy Program. “There are many needs in our local pet community and we are excited to partner with the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society and support their efforts. Not only will this event raise awareness about the benefits of massage therapy, but it will also encourage people to support pets in need and draw attention to an important cause.”
“We are thrilled to have the support of Mildred Elley and the Massage Therapy students. Homeless animals depend upon the support of our community. Mildred Elley has stepped up. This program is unique and a shining example of what other organizations can do to help non-profits," said Brad Shear Executive Director for the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
The use of massage therapy has boomed in the last two decades. Massage has proven health benefits, such as effectiveness in treating persistent back pain and arthritis pain, as well as strengthening the immune system. It also reduces symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. Consumer research shows first-time massage therapy clients report very positive feelings about their experience. Consumers can enjoy peace of mind knowing ABMP members meet state licensing and educational requirements, as well as adhering to the ABMP code of ethics. ABMP has sponsored a charitable, promotional massage event since 1995.
