Fresh from the oven: Central Ave Deli & Grille serves mac & cheese right

Pierre Jeune knows an opportunity when he sees it. When the newly remodeled deli closed down in the building Jeune leases last year, Jeune went from property manager to delicatessen owner.

Today, the Central Ave Deli and Grille does offers lunch to a growing crowd of Central Avenue workers and students, and Jeune couldn't be happier.

The deli specializes in hot and cold subs prepared with Boar's Head products, and a small but good selection of homemade hot dishes like rice and beans and macaroni-and-cheese. Made by counter maven Evelyn and based on an authentic Mississippi recipe, the mac-and-cheese has become somewhat of a calling card for the new deli. It's hot, cheesy, and plenty flavorful--just the way good mac and cheese should be. It goes so fast that Evelyn has to bake multiple batches each day to keep the high-demand dish in stock!

Central Ave Deli and Grille is located at 173 Central Avenue. Order ahead for quick and easy pickup: (518) 434-0232.
