Get the goods at our neighborhood farmers' market Tuesdays from 4 to 7 pm in St. James parking lot today (stay tuned for new location). Local fresh picked greens, garlic, tomatillos, eggplant, corn, apples, pears, peppers, squash and locally made baked goods, yarn and crafts.
2. The College of St. Rose has opened the community center at Plumeri Sports Complex at Hoffman Park with a number of free classes and activities for young and old.
- Active Afterschool is being held on Mon & Weds from 4 to 5:30 pm. Kids in Albany ages 5 to 12 are welcome to attend for games and healthy activity.
- Fitness classes for adults are scheduled for Mon & Weds from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Activities will vary between aerobics, yoga, dance.
- Outdoor Adventure Program will meet every Thursday evening from 6 to 7 pm. Open to young people ages 10 and up, participants will learn about outdoor activities such as horseback riding, rock climbing and hiking. Adult volunteers needed.
- Do Something Club for teens (15-19) will keep them active in their communities. The club will meet on Thursdays from 3:15 to 4 pm.
3. Continue to improve your health and your neighborhood's. Sunday Sadhana (which means practice) at the Yoga Loft is open to everyone, all levels, and is taught by a variety of teachers. Proceeds from these donation-only classes in the month of October will go to support DANA. Classes are held on Sundays from 9:30 to 11:00am. The dates for October are:

4. The next Delaware Area Neighborhood Association meeting is scheduled for Thursday,October 13 at 7 pm at the Delaware branch of the public library.
5. Right before the next DANA meeting on October 13 at 5 PM attend the first ever Poetry Reading in the Friendship Garden on Hurlbut. Local poets Dan Wilcox, K. Mojavi Wright, Miriam Axel-Lute, Jill Crammond, Therese Broderick & Annine Everson will be reading. Rain date is October 20.

8. Due to popular demand another City of Albany Free Paper Shredding event will be held onOctober 22 from 1 to 4 pm in Washington Park (Madison Avenue Entrance) Protect your identity. Bring documents that need shredding up to 3 boxes/bags per person and they will be shredded on site. No commercial please. Additionally they will be collecting hard & soft cover books to be recycled. 9. In Common Council news, the first public hearing on the city's budget will be held onOctober 17 at 7pm in the Common Council Chamber, 2nd floor of City Hall. Also on that date there will be a public hearing on the Residential Parking Permit proposal.
10. Training to serve on the Community Accountability Board will be held on Sunday, October 23 from 1 to 5 pm at the College of Saint Rose. - On Thursday, October 13, the Government Law Review will hold a symposium on LBGT Rights from 1:30 to 6:30 pm in the Moot Court Room, #421. Discussion will include Don't Ask Don't Tell, The Defense of Marriage Act and family and workplace rights. The key note speaker Jeh Johnson, General Counsel to the US Dept. of Defense will be joined by many other expert panelists from the legal field and government.
