Second Life for Central Avenue Flowers & Holiday Lights

September 17th, 2018

Students from the University of Albany live-learn communities or LLC's. were on hand at the CBID STEAM Garden helping in the converting of this years hanging flower baskets into new compost.

This project is being done in partnership with the CBID for the students at St. Anne Institute for girls. Over the last few years's the Central Avenue bid has taken down the flower baskets in time for the students at the UAlbany to mulch and separate organic material from the recyclable materials.

The Students at St. Anne's will use the organic material from this year's plants to create compost and growing material for student projects at the School. They will use the material to learn about Horticulture and growing science. St, Anne's school will use the material in the spring in their Greenhouse to grow vegetables, flowers & spices, Truly a green and all around win-win for the community!

Then the students helped get the holiday lights all set for the West End Everett Road Gateway

Thousands of bulbs replaced & tested!
