Chester's Smokehouse announces ribbon-cutting celebration Feb. 2

Chester Rozycki, world-class craftsman and meat guru.
Foodies and deli fans rejoice. World-class craftsman and meat guru Chester Rozycki has just opened Chester’s Smokehouse, a business sure to make your mouth water.

Located in the heart of Albany, Chester's Smokehouse serves up over 80 varieties of housemade meats and cheeses, all made and smoked on premises in the store’s brand-new, state-of-the-art facilities.

Chester's Smokehouse will be holding a grand opening celebration and official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, 11am to 12pm.

What's for lunch? Giant sandwiches at Chester's Smokehouse.
Every single piece of meat in Chester's Smokehouse is made in-house using recipes Chester has been perfecting for 30 years. “Opening my own store has given me the opportunity to share my recipes,” says Rozycki.  When you enter Chester's Smokehouse you'll feel like you're stepping into tradition. Rozycki, who immigrated from Poland in 1982, attended butcher school for four years in his native country, and it's clear from the way he talks, that the training he's received was rigorous. “You got to have the heart and passion for it, to be good at it,” Rozycki admits.

The design of the store and deli is open, and the walls are lined with glass-front coolers to give you a glimpse of Chester's most popular products, including homemade sausages, kielbasa, jerky, pork loins, bacon, pierogis, smoked cheeses, Kielbasa links, and fresh hams. Chester’s Smokehouse also serves hot lunches, featuring handmade giant sandwiches stacked with Rozycki’s own housemade meats,  as well as soups, salads and entrees.

Ken and Lidia Altarac, co-owners at Chester's Smokehouse
point the way toward the finest in locally produced meats and cheeses.
The business is located in a historic building that was completely renovated and updated with state-of-the-art equipment and ultramodern smoking, aging, and storage facilities. To assist with these updates, Chester’s Smokehouse received a grant through National Grid's Main Street Program.

Chester's is located one block off of Central Ave, and just a ¼ mile from the Everett Rd exit off of I-90, with plenty of off-street parking available in the rear of the building.

“We’re very happy to welcome Chester’s Smokehouse to this neighborhood,” says Anthony Capece, Executive Director for the Central Avenue Business Improvement District. “It’s great to see this kind of business, which specializes in locally produced goods, coming back to the city, and the location, which is just down the street from the Honest Weight Food Co-op, is perfect for it. Both Chester's and the Co-op cater to discerning customers who are looking for high-quality local foods, and we hope there will be a lot of synergy between them.”

The ribbon-cutting will take place on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, 11am-12pm, at Chester’s Smokehouse, 15 Watervliet Avenue in Albany. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be followed by a small reception and tours of the business. For more information, www.chesterssmokehouse.com
