| Equinox and Central Avenue BID will team up to plant flowers in Townsend and clean up portions of Central Avenue on Thursday, April 24. |
To celebrate Earth Day, Central Avenue Business Improvement District and Equinox, Inc. join groups across the city for neighborhood clean-ups. This clean up event, the third in a continuing partnership with the organization’s Youth Outreach Program, will be one of several clean-ups across the city.
This joint initiative between Equinox, Inc. and the Central Avenue Business Improvement District business members will take place on Thursday, April 24, 2014, 3:30pm-5pm. This marks the third time, these two organizations have worked together to improve sections of Central Avenue. Last spring, the two groups teamed up to plant flowers and clean up the street, and the fall prior to that, the groups partnered with College of St. Rose to landscape Central Avenue tree wells and clean up the street.
During that time, teens from the Equinox Youth Outreach Center will work with neighbors and district members cleaning and greening Lower Central Avenue between Henry Johnson Boulevard and Lexington. The team will plant flowers at Townsend Park and in the bed next to Ferris Coin and Stamp. They will also pick up garbage and clean sidewalks in front of businesses up and down the street.
“Spring is a time for neighbors to work together to clean up and green up. We’re so pleased to be working with Equinox, Inc., helping improve this stretch of Central Avenue and make it more inviting,”  says Anthony Capece, Executive Director for the Central Avenue Business Improvement District (CBID).
“Equinox is pleased to, once again, partner with the Central BID to make our neighborhood a nicer place, and to foster strong community connections for the youth we serve,” says Dorothy Cucinelli, PhD.  Equinox Inc.
