Colorful stars created by Albany school children decorate fences in Central Avenue's Shopping District. |
Students from four Central Avenue district schools lent their talents to this year's Star Student Holiday Decorations Program, creating 750 stars to decorate Central Avenue's Shopping District.
Students from Blessed Sacrament School, Brighter Choice Charter School for Boys, Brighter Choice Charter School for Girls, and the Montessori Magnet School decorated the stars with glitter, paint, tissue paper, stickers, and lace. Then Central BID staff collected them and hung them from the hundreds of feet of evergreen garland that festoon the fences in the district's west end. ShopRite, Hannaford, and Price Chopper all contributed funds to defray the costs, and their names were included on the holiday banners installed along the fences.
The project is in its second year and offers a wonderful opportunity for our merchants and schools to work together and spread the joy of the season.
