H&R Block takes a second look at old location

This morning, H&R Block opened the doors at a newly refurbished location on Central Avenue, welcoming the public to take a second look at the old store.

"Thanks for staying," Mayor Jerry Jennings said before cutting the ribbon at the newly renovated storefront. Jennings says that the business is well-known for providing tax assistance to middle- and lower-income families, and he congratulated them on their "Second Look Review," which finds missed refunds for working-class families who need it most. He also commended the business for keeping its doors open at the same location for so many years. It's encouraging to see businesses like this not just staying in the area, but reinvesting in the neighborhood, he said.

Jennings cut the ribbon at the newly refurbished H&R Block at 165 Central Avenue, alongside Audra Patrissy, Office Manager and Susan Chow, Store Manager. The also event welcomed guests from the community, including Anthony Capece, Executive Director for the CBID, Laura Dehmer, Vice President for the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Natasha Pernicka, Executive Director for the Food Pantries of the Capital District.

The newly renovated store is looking forward to providing a number of programs aimed at Central Avenue businesses, including tax services for not-for-profits, seminars for small business owners, and a month-long Black History Month Celebration that spotlights local business owners, says Patrissy.
