Small Business Saturday is November 24

Spend your money locally, and get more back! By supporting local, independently-owned small businesses, you’re helping create jobs, boost the economy and preserve neighborhoods around the country.

Central Avenue is home to hundreds of small, independent businesses, from shoe stores to ethnic groceries, from dry cleaners to car washes, which means that every day of the year can be a chance to do business locally.

In the weeks leading up to Small Business Saturday, the Central Avenue BID started a weekly feature in the Times Union Albany blog called Small Business Saturday. We highlighted retail establishments as well as service businesses like garage, shoe repair, taxi business, and yes--even a memorial stone maker--so that readers can learn about the wealth of different businesses that make their homes in the heart of Albany's uptown.

Now, as customers begin to prepare in earnest for the holidays, we've got your go-to guide for local shopping. Each day, we'll provide you with some gift ideas from local merchants.
