Mayor distributes coats to 4,300 kids

Today, Mayor Jerry Jennings collected and distributed 4,300 coats and winter gear to kids across Albany as part of the Mayor's Fall Drop Off." "No child should be exposed to the winter cold without a coat," Jennings told the crowd who had assembled at the Philip Schuyler Achievement Academy to watch the distribution of coats. The mayor was banked by bags full of winter gear, and happy students.

"These coats will make a difference," said Albany Schools Superintendent Raymond Colucciello. "Each coat will be a youngster who comes to school." The mayor thanked all the supporters of the Mayor's Fall Drop Off" including Jack Yonally of President of Lodge's Department Store and Tom Burke, Principal of Burke Companies, as well as newcomers the Albany Devils Hockey Team.

The mayor presented coats, hats and gloves to students there, happily shaking hands with the schoolchildren as they streamed past on their way to class.
