This October, the Linda is your source for all things undead. The Zombie Film Feast: 4, a two-day celebration of the zombie film genre has expanded to include a carnival and live music performances. The Feast will bring back the prom and walk, as well as zombie video gaming, and due to popular demand, this year’s event will be open to audiences 18 and up.
This year’s Feast will kick off Friday night with a gala, and musical performances by the Dead Divas, famous for their undead take on hits by divas like Patsy Cline and Judy Garland, and the first-ever choral presentation of zombie faves, presented by the Capitol Pride Singers. The film feast will include old favorites like Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland, as well as newly discovered gems, including a French film about zombie clowns and selected zombie shorts, says Graeme McKenna, Assistant Manager at the Linda, WAMC’s Performing Arts Studio and Feast organizer.
Saturday’s events will include the first annual New York Zombie Carnival, where attendees can take part in “zombie games of chance,” including body part toss, zombie Blood Bath, and the zombie Wheel of Death, says McKenna. The games go all day and vendors will be on site selling clothes, makeup and more.
Of course, the Feast wouldn’t be complete without a Zombie Walk. At 6pm, fans can deck themselves in rags and gore and hit the streets for a deadly stalk from the Linda to Lark Street. Last year’s walkers numbered over a hundred, and their slow march to the Linda was accompanied by cheers of onlookers and beeping horns of passing cars. The Fourth Annual Brain Eating Contest will follow the walk (“Nothing like a good shambling undead stroll to whet the appetite,” says McKenna.) and after that, everyone is invited to attend the Zombie Prom, sponsored by the Troy Hellions Roller Derby Team.
The fun starts on Friday, October 21, and runs through Saturday October 22. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased on the Linda website at www.thelinda.org/zombie
Don’t miss the Zombie Film Feast: 4. “Dead is the new alive,” says McKenna.
