Huge hurricane help: Security Supply delivers food and supplies to hurricane victims

On November 19, trucks loaded with food and supplies arrived at the Community Food Bank in Hillside, NJ with more than 29,000 pounds of food and $8,100 in cash donations.

The efforts were organized by Security Supply Plumbing and Heating, a family owned business since 1934, with 12 locations across the region, including one on Central Avenue. "We wanted to do something more than write a check," says Brian Fowler, VP of Sales and Marketing for Security Supply. "We said, 'We have trucks, we have branches, let's do it.'"

Security Supply and the other businesses who participated in the effort are proud to contribute to the work of an agency that distributes close to 200 pounds of food per day to hurricane victims. "We made a very small dent in a very big effort," says Fowler.

Contributors included Hannaford, Mildred Elley, Albany County Health Department, PEF Local 502, Albany Colonie Chamber of Commerce, and Walmart. Fowler says donations included bags of toothbrushes from a local dentist, pallets of charcoal and Hannaford's meal boxes, which is a box that includes three square meals--all thoughtful and useful contributions.
