Get moving! Phillips family spearheads Stride fundraiser

Jonathan Phillips, owner of Phillips Hardware is coordinating the 3rd Annual Stride 4 Stride 5K Race/2.5K Community Walk & Wheelchair Roll on Saturday, June 23rd at the Coming Preserve at Albany’s Riverfront, and he would love to see some familiar faces join them.

This event increases awareness of special needs athletes including wounded warriors and children, and encourages community involvement, giving many athletes and opportunity that we take for granted in our daily lives.

"My children and I, have been involved with Stride for three years and it has been life changing for us," says Phillips. This year, the Phillips’ boys; Tyler (16), Connor (13), and Dylan (3), will be running as a family to show their support for Stride Adaptive Programs. "I am also excited to have Steve & Aaron Kieselstein joining me for the Community Walk part of the Stride event. Aaron is Steve’s son, who is a special needs athlete. This year, I had the pleasure of participating in a soccer program with Aaron. He is a wonderful athlete, who is energetic, determined, and always with a huge smile," says Phillips.

The Phillips family’s goal is to raise around $3,000. All of the money raised will goes to Stride, a not-for-profit organization which provides over eight thousand free adaptive sports and recreation lesions in 16 different programs to help serve children with special needs and disabilities.
